Clinton Police Department: Can You Help Solve Vandalism?

The Clinton Police Department is investigating a rash of vandalism to city owned property. Specifically, the Clinton Parks and Recreation Department.

Wednesday afternoon the Parks and Recreation Department announced several incidents that have occurred over the past week beginning late last week. Those incidents were confirmed and discussed by Park Director Brad Combs Wednesday afternoon.

"They've been pretty hard on us this in the last week, that's for sure." said Combs by phone Wednesday. "We're not sure if they are related or just what it is."

Late last week the Parks Department discovered what appears to have been an attempted but failed break-in at Wagoner West Field. Combs explained an employee reported an air vent on the concession stand had been tampered with. "They got the thing off to the point they probably realized the hole was smaller than it looked and they could not get through it." said Combs.

At this time the field, used for softball and youth baseball, is not in league use therefore the concession stand is empty. Had the evil doers gained entry they would have found nothing inside to steal.

Over the weekend, a Parks Department truck was damaged in the same area. The truck, a 1997 Ford F150, was being stored on the Street Department lot on East Sedalia St. when all of its windows were broken out. According the Combs, the truck was actually retired from use and he had begun the process of having it declared surplus for a future city/county auction.

A concrete pick-nick table at Optimist Park on East Franklin St. was extensively damaged this week. According to Combs this vandalism took place between approximately 1 p.m. Monday and Wednesday morning.

"We (Parks and Recreation) don't own those," said Combs. "They were donated by the Optimist Club and they are expensive." He estimated the value of the damaged table between $600-$700. He said he "rough" estimate of total damage to department property at approximately $1,500-$2,000

Recently several incidents of property damage has occurred to Parks and Rec facilities and vehicles. If you have any information please contact Brad Combs, Parks and Rec Director, at 885-2181 or the Clinton Police Department.

Bates County Farm Bureau: Just some facts on Amendment 1

PRESS RELEASE
BATES COUNTY FARM BUREAU

JUST THE FACTS ON AMENDMENT 1

Section 35. That agriculture which provides food, energy, health benefits, and security is the foundation and stabilizing force of Missouri's economy. To protect this vital sector of Missouri's economy, the right of farmers and ranchers to engage in farming and ranching practices shall be forever guaranteed in this state, subject to duly authorized powers, if any, conferred by article VI of the Constitution of Missouri.

FACT:Amendment 1 was passed out of the state legislature with bipartisan support.

FACT: 6 of 8 Missouri U.S. Representatives are endorsing amendment 1, including Vicky Hartzler and Emanuel Cleaver.

FACT: MO Attorney General Chris Koster is traveling Missouri promoting amendment 1.

FACT: The law in the state of Missouri limits foreign ownership of farm land to 1%.

FACT: Missouri Farm Bureau is strongly opposed to foreign ownership of farmland. If this amendment actually promoted foreign ownership Farm Bureau would not be supporting it.

FACT: The last line of amendment 1 insures county government’s ability to regulate agriculture.

FACT: The Humane Society of the United States (an out of state animal rights group) has spent $375,000 so far opposing amendment 1.

FACT:Missouri pork, cattlemen, soybean, corn growers, dairy, veterinary medical, pet breeders, sheep, sporting dog, equine, and vocational agriculture teachers associations all support amendment 1.

FACT: Missouri Chamber of Commerce as well as the Columbia Chamber of Commerce support amendment 1.

FACT: MFA Inc., FCS Financial, Missouri Rural Electric Cooperatives, and the Conservation Federation of Missouri support amendment 1.

FACT: The Humane Society of the United States, The Sierra Club, and the Coalition for the Environment (all out of state groups) oppose amendment 1.
