Traffic stop in Amsterdam leads to drug arrest

On December 15th, a Deputy conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle that failed to stop at a stop sign in Amsterdam, MO. While the Deputy was speaking to the driver of the vehicle, the Deputy could smell a strong marijuana odor coming from the car. The driver gave the Deputy consent to search the vehicle. While searching the vehicle the Deputy located a cloth bag that contained two glass pipes and a needle that had a white clear substance in it. A passenger in the vehicle identified the pipes as hers. The Deputy field tested on of the pipes and it tested positive for Methamphetamine. The clear liquid inside the syringe also tested positive for Methamphetamine.

The passenger of the vehicle, identified as Valerie Lezer (DOB 12/20/1982) was placed into custody and was transported to the Bates County Jail. Lezer was charged for Possession of a Controlled Substance and Unlawful use of Drug Paraphernalia. Both bonds were set at $12500.00 cash or surety.
