LET’S HELP PAPINVILLE RESTORE OUR HISTORY- BRIDGE NEEDS RENOVATIONS !

The Papinville Historical Committee will be selling raffle tickets for a handmade quilt to help raise funds to restore the 130 year old Papinville Bridge over the Marais des Cygnes River.
The Pinned Pratt through Truss was built in 1883 by Kansas City Bridge and Iron Company, at a cost of $2,175.00. The bridge gained the prestige of being placed on the National Historical Register on October 22nd of 2002.
The bridge is now in dire need of restoration. With the help of Bates county Commissioners and their donation of bridge planks from another bridge being replaced the Papinville Association  hired Trent Nelson and crew to do the work of replacing the bad planks plus other up-grading.
The project should be completed within a few weeks.
The Papinville Historical Association will be attending the August 24th Bates county Museum Commemoration of the 150th Anniversary of Order No. 11. The association will be displaying and selling tickets on the Order No. 11 Quilt.
Tickets are $1.00 each or 6 for $5.00. It would be hard to put a value on this work of art… All proceeds will be used for the expenses of the Papinville Bridge renovations.
To purchase raffle tickets contact Beverly of Sullins Rich Hill 816-769-4832 ( this number may be found on the 921kmoe.com website ) Tickets will also be for sale at the Saturday September 28th Annual Papinville Picnic.
The Order No. 11 commemorative quilt was made by Phyliss Stewart and Marcelle Marquardt.
