Coach’s Comments-
“We took 6 wrestlers to this tournament, and we picked up more matches than usual at this tournament due to a lot of round-robin style formats. I was pleased with our conditioning. Three wrestlers brought home their first varsity tournament medals- Shipley, Davis, and Durnell. Tayje Van Voorst has performed well at Knob Noster, winning the tournament for his weight class in back-to-back years. Versailles looked great, as they always do, running away with this tournament with a lot of kids and a lot of pins. We have to wrestle more powerfully, however, to gain more ground this season and put more wrestlers on the medal stands. Our take down stats have to improve immediately if we hope to have individual successes throughout this long season. No one can relax or feel content on what they accomplished here. Nearly every single match that occurred at this tournament will be repeated over the course of the season. Wrestlers thrive on getting revenge to someone they lost to previously. Good rivalries are already brewing in several weight classes. Working on our mistakes, getting plenty of rest, and building up our power supply will all be important this week, as we go to the Carrolton Tournament on Friday.”
