Bates County Extension Honors Century Farm Families

The Bates County Extension Council held its annual dinner meeting on Monday, February 23, at the
 Randy and Ellen Bell (shown right) shared the
Century Farm Family honor with other family members.
Adrian Tractor Village. Alan J. Mundey, 4-H Youth Specialist and co-county program director, welcomed the group and introduced guests Presiding Commissioner Jim Wheatley and Southern Commissioner Larry Hacker. Mundey also introduced county Extension faculty and staff Tammy Roberts, Associate Extension Professional and co-county program director; Mark Jenner, Ag Business Specialist; Amanda Wolf, Nutrition Program Assistant and Brenda Doody, office manager.

After a delicious meal prepared by Linda Howard, Tammy Roberts recognized the 2014 Bates County Missouri Century Farm families. The following farm families were honored: Randy Bell family, farm established 1892; and the Ciggel-Case family, farm established 1888.

Extension Council members Tyler Black, Jerry Ferguson, Myra Colin, Alan Marr, and Jan Craft were recognized for their service to Bates County Extension. Council members Reggie Gregg, Mary Fischer and Wesley Merritt were unable to attend. New council member Paul Cumpton was welcomed to the group.

For the evening’s program, Bates County Museum Director Peggy Buhr gave a short presentation on Bates County history.

A brief Extension Council meeting concluded the evening.
