One boy was able to exit the pond on his own, with a second boy extracted from the pond by a relative of one of the boys. He was taken to a local hospital, before being transferred to Children’s Mercy Hospital in Kansas City.

Rescuers work for around 90 minutes before they located the third boy. Local authorities have not released any names of the 3 boys involved, only saying the boy who died was under 10 years of age. The boys were reportedly playing on the frozen pond, before they fell through the ice.
