Adrian man arrested in Bates County

On July 15th a Deputy responded to North Old Business 71 in Adrian for a domestic in progress. 

The victim stated that Travis Smith (DOB 8/12/1992) had broken out the window and pulled out the window frame. 

After an altercation with the victim Smith left the scene. 

The Deputy began an area canvass and he was able to locate Smith driving a 2006 Chevrolet Silverado. 

During the Deputy’s investigation he learned that Smith was driving a stolen truck and that he had also stole a cell phone from the truck’s owner. The owner of the truck had not given Smith permission to have it and said he wished to press charges against Smith.

Mr. Smith was transported to the Bates County Jail and was charged with Tampering with a Motor Vehicle in the 1st Degree. His bond was set at $30000.00 cash only. 

As the investigation progresses more charges are expected to be filed against Smith.
