In accordance with Missouri Revised Statutes 589.400 the Bates County Sheriff's Office is allowed to collect a $5.00 registration fee. Some of you have been allowed to register without paying the fee because of your lack of ability to pay. The Sheriff's Office has changed their policy about the registration fee. You are now required to pay the fee at the time of your registration. NO registration will be accepted unless it is accompanied with your registration fee. At your next appointment, you will be required to pay your outstanding balance plus the current fee. If you do not have your fee at the time of your registration, you will not be permitted to register and may be considered non-compliant. This could result in a warrant issued for your arrest.
