Deer hunter stabbed near Drexel this morning

The Cass County Sheriff's office is investigating after a deer hunter reported he had been stabbed in a wooded area near Drexel this morning.

The sheriff's office said it received a 9-1-1 call at about 9:30 a.m. from the hunter who said he had been stabbed by an unknown person.

Deputies and the Drexel Fire Department responded to a wooded area about a mile North of town near East 341st Street and State Line Road where they found a 41-year-old victim in a field who appeared to have been stabbed, police said.

The victim was flown to a Kansas City area hospital for treatment. He is expected to recover, according to police.

The sheriff's office has not yet released any suspect information.
