Walk-a-thon nets over $900 for Senior Center meals program

Elementary students walk for Senior Center 'Miles for Meals'

The annual walk-a-thon for Older Americans Month was observed at the Butler Elementary School during the first week in May. Children were asked to secure pledges to help support the Senior Center meals program. They did their walking during their physical education classes. Over $900 was raised. For their efforts the highest money raisers received Wal-Mart gift cards.

For the largest amount, over $500, Hunter Stevenson received a $25 card, T. Allison received a $20 card for raising $100, and Cassie Wason raised $87.50 and received a $15 card. Two additional students, Dillon Hill and Jackson Rotert each received $5 gift cards for raising $55 and $40 respectively. The Board, staff and participants at the Senior Center greatly appreciate the help of Butler Elementary students.
