Threat investigation leads to drug possession arrest

Yesterday, Bates County Sheriff's Deputies were dispatched to Adrian in reference to threats being made. Deputies notified the Adrian Police Officer who spoke with the victim. She stated that her estrange husband had made threats toward her over the phone. Deputies then responded to Rt1 Box 389 Butler to speak with the male subject. That subject was identified as Micheal H Kreitler, 63. Kreitler spoke with officers about the threat. Kreitler was asked if he prefer to step inside the house to conduct the interview about the threats. Once the deputies were inside the residence then they observed a florescent grow light and 13 white Dixie cups with plants growing on the counter. When asked what it was, Kreitler admitted that he was growing marijuana. An additional search of the residence revealed a felony amount of marijuana.

Kreitler was transported to the Bates County Jail. Today, Prosecutor Jenkins charged Kreitler with possession of a controlled substance and bond was placed at $10,000.00 cash or surety.
