Coats for Kids Update

BATES COUNTY, Mo – DSWA Certified Public Accountants, PC and Larry and Carol Ann Winburn are pleased to announce they were able to purchase, package and distribute 234 brand-new warm coats for school-age and pre-school children throughout Bates County this year.
Individual contributors were eligible to win one of three prizes provided by the Winburns and DSWA. The winners’ chosen in the December 15th drawing were: Mary Kammerer of Butler, a Nextbook and Android Tablet; Sue Ann Steele of Butler, a full-body massage by Barb Brooks at Posh Salon and Day Spa in Butler; and Dorothy Payne of Amsterdam, a $25 gift certificate to Koehn Baker in Butler.
The Winburns and DSWA are very grateful to the school nurses and teachers across the county who help nominate youngsters who need coats, and to the Butler Wal-Mart for offering a discount on the coats purchased there.
Most importantly, the success of the project every year depends on caring individuals, businesses and organizations who contribute so generously to the program.
A special thank you to the entities who gave $250 or more this year: Bates County Cattlemen’s Association, $250; Butler Lions Club, $300; the Old High School Thrift Shop in Butler, $1,000; and the Adrian Bank, $1,000. Every dollar counts and every dollar contributed is used to purchase warm coats and jackets.
