Nevada Police Department: 17 year old Man Arrested on Felony Charges
Nevada police officers report the arrest of a 17-year-old man on felony counts alleging assault, vehicle tampering and resisting arrest after an incident Friday afternoon, May 23. Chief Graham Burnley says officers were dispatched to the front yard of a home in the 100 block of W. Sycamore Friday and were told a man had broken a window of a parked car with a rock and assaulted a 30-year-old woman health care worker by hitting her with his fists and pulling her hair, causing serious but not life-threatening injuries.
The police chief says the man attacked his officers when they arrived, damaging the rear window of a city police car in his attempt to resist arrest. City police officers, with the help of Vernon County sheriff's officers, made the arrest and booked the suspect at the county jail where he's in custody in lieu of a $15,000.00 cash-only bond. Police Chief Burnley identified the suspect as Richard Draper, Nevada, and a formal arraignment's pending in Vernon County associate circuit court. The chief encourages Nevada residents to report domestic violence to detective Josh Westerhold at the Nevada Police Department, 120 S. Ash, 417-448-5100.
