Elks 'fired up' for BBQ contest this weekend

The Bates County Elks Lodge is all set for the BBQ Cook-off this Friday and Saturday. This will be open to the Public as well as Members. Check-in on Friday night, and the meat will be inspected upon arrival. There will be a Cook's meeting at 6:00 pm, with a dinner following at 7 pm. Dinner will be a free-will donation.

On Saturday, judging will begin at 11:00 am, with the first category being the People's Choice Award. The meat will be provided for this. The rest of the day will go as follows: 12:00 - Open
12:30 - Chicken
1:00 - Pork Ribs
1:30 - Pork Butt
2:00 - Dessert

The Awards Ceremony will follow at 3:00 pm. Entry fee is $50.00, with a First Place in each categry payout of $50.00. There is limited electricity, with a $10.00 hook-up fee. All fires will be wood, wood pellets, or charcoal.

We will also be hosting Bingo on both nights, with it starting at 7:30 pm on Friday night, and 6:30 pm on Saturday night. For more info, call Clint Schuman at 660-200-5484.
