The Department of Revenue will be improving Driver License Security. The Department is introducing the latest improvements to driver licenses and non-driver identification cards. These Changes protect your identity and decrease fraud. The new system means the end of the over-the -counter driver license system that has been in place since the 90’s and allows the Department to install substantially more modern technology. The new system went into effect at the Butler License Bureau on February 20th.
The question is… What will change?
The license will be processed, a picture taken, fees remain the same, all paperwork scanned and securely transmitted to the central office.
Applicants will receive a temporary license and may keep the old license which will be punched, “ void”.
The permanent license will be produced at a secure U.S. facility.
License arrives in the mail at your home within 7 to 10 business days.
State of the art Equipment will replace outdated cameras and computers
You must bring a birth certificate, a passport “ current of expired”
Residential Verification with your name and address or a voters registration card, or a bank statement or utility bill, a medical bill or hospital bill will provide and confirm you name and residence.
If you have any concerns or questions before you attempt to renew or apply for a 2013 driver’s license, call the License Bureau in advance.
