John Standley McKnight Sr. passed on March 22, 2014 at St. Joseph Hospital. He was born April 22, 1942 to Leonard and Dorothy McKnight at St. Joseph, MO.
On Nov. 12, 1959 John married the love of his life Joan Goldizen. They had 5 sons and 3 daughters; John McKnight Jr. Kansas City, MO, Holly McKnight Kansas City, MO, Kenneth McKnight Grass Valley, California, Bobby McKnight Grass Valley, California, John E. McKnight Grass Valley, California, Karen Durnell Butler, MO, Debbie Taylor Plattsmouth, Nebraska and Wayne McKnight Peculiar, MO.
John was a machinist, He worked at Leverton in St. Joseph MO for many years with family. His last job was for Ready Built in Kansas City, MO. John was a family man, a jokester at heart. He loved bowling and his wrestling. John loved to travel, he has traveled from the east to the west coast in his life time. Though him and his family called many places home, after losing his much beloved wife he resided with his daughter Karen and her family in Butler, MO.
John was preceded in death by his wife Joan McKnight, parents Leonard and Dorthy McKnight. 6 brothers, Sonny, Ronnie, Wayne, David, Tommy and Danny , 1 Sister Ilene. Those left to mourn his passing are his brother Mike and sister Doris. His 8 Children, 24 grandchildren, and 7 great grandchildren We will be celebrating his life on March 30th, 2014 at his daughter Karen's home 306 N. Maple Butler, MO 64730 from 2pm to 4pm. All flowers and condolence cards can be sent to his daughter Karen.
