On February 27, 2012, I, James K. Journey, filed for re-election as Judge of the 27th Judicial Circuit, serving Henry, Bates and St. Clair Counties. I have had the privilege of presiding over a wide variety of interesting and challenging matters during this, my initial term in office. I have learned much and I could not have imagined prior to taking office how personally rewarding my job is. When I began my judicial career, my goal was to serve all persons who come before the court with justice, fairness and civility. I’ve made that goal a constant priority and I will continue to do so. My prior thirty years of experience in law as an attorney, representing clients in the circuit and the state of Missouri has been an invaluable asset to me as a judge. I appreciate the importance and impact the decisions I am asked to make have on the lives of those coming before the Court. I have sought the use of innovative and realistic approaches to solving problems such as bringing adult treatment courts into the circuit. I look forward to continued service.
I have been a life long resident of Henry County and attended Central Missouri State University, now UCM, and the University of Missouri School of Law. I was admitted to the Missouri Bar in 1976, and practiced law throughout the circuit and the State of Missouri until taking the bench. My wife, Rachelle, our three children and I reside in Clinton, and attend the First Baptist Church of Clinton.
