The Papinville Historical Society is sponsoring tours of the Harmony Mission area on Saturday, May 5th. The tours start at 10 am and there will be at least 2 more tours after that. There will be a ham and bean plus chicken and noodle lunch served afterwards with cornbread, dessert and a drink for a free will donation. The tours leave from the Papinville museum, location of the annual Papinville Picnic. There will be activities all day long on the school/museum grounds. It will be a fun and educational day. Plan to come and experience history first hand.
Harmony Mission was founded by the United Foreign Missionary Society in 1821 and closed in 1836. It became the first county seat of Bates county in 1841. Cost of tours will be $7.50 for adults, $5 for children 5 thru 12, and under 5 is free with an adult.
