Funeral services for Lelan Deems will be 11 a.m. Friday, September 14, 2012 at Schowengerdt Funeral Chapel (660-679-6555) in Butler, Missouri with Dr. Terry Davis officiating. Visitation will be prior to services from 10-11 a.m. at Schowengerdt Chapel. Burial in Oak Hill Cemetery, Butler, Missouri. Contributions to Kansas City Hospice House, Butler First Baptist Church, Butler Public Library or Pancreatic Cancer Action Network.
Lelan Clyde Deems, age 86 of Butler, Missouri died Monday, September 10, 2012 at Kansas City Hospice House in Kansas City, Missouri. He was born November 13, 1925 to John Clyde and Olive Elizabeth Searfus Deems in Butler.
Lelan is survived by his wife, Gloria Yvonne Deems of Butler, Missouri; one son, Gary Deems of Butler, Missouri; two daughters, Gayl Bartimus and husband Gary of Lee’s Summit, Missouri and Glynda Deems of Kansas City, Missouri; four sisters,Donna Post of Butler, Missouri, Dixie Harper and husband Theron of Lawrence, Kansas, Shirley Spears of Blue Springs, Missouri and Lynda Humphrey of North Kansas City, Missouri; four grandchildren, Jennifer Philipsheck and husband Anthony, Christina Cottle and husband John, Dillon Deems and Matt Bartimus and wife Sara; and eight great-grandchildren, Ashtyn, Evan, Drew, Brooks, Grace, Brynn, Ava and Ethan. He was precdeded in death by his parents; two brothers, Lloyd and Harley; and one sister, Helen Sweezy.
