Obituary - Charles "Charley" William Mohr


     
  Charles "Charley" William Mohr, 73, Peculiar, Missouri, died Sunday, November 18, 2012 at the Kansas City Hospice House in Kansas City, Missouri. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, November 20, 2012 at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Butler, Missouri with visitation from 9:00-10:00 a.m. at the church. Burial will be in Peculiar Cemetery in Peculiar, Missouri. Memorial contributions may be made to the family, c/o Atkinson Funeral Home, 600 West Wall Street, Harrisonville, MO 64701.

     Charley was born October 30, 1939 in Kansas City, Kansas, the son of Max and Erna (Kempfe) Mohr. He was a graduate of Southwest High School in Kansas City, Missouri. He married Carole Jeanne Tolbert on November 10, 1960 in Miami, Oklahoma. Charley grew up in the family Floral Business , Mohr Brothers Florist  in Kansas City, Missouri, and later became the owner. He also worked as a Codes Inspector for the city of Peculiar for 14 years before retiring in 2008. Charley was a U.S. Air Force Veteran, serving during the Berlin Wall crisis. He was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Butler. Charley enjoyed fly fishing at Bennett Springs and woodworking.

  Charley was preceded in death by his parents and two nephews, Mark Abraham and Jamie Bonacci. He is survived by his wife, Carole Jeanne of the home; son, Chuck Mohr and his wife, DeDe of Marceline, Missouri; three daughters, Teri Mulch and husband, Steve of Peculiar, Missouri, Heidi Gilbert and husband, Raymond of Archie, Missouri and Debi Thomas and husband, Jim of Adrian, Missouri; two sisters, Joyce Abraham of Leawood, Kansas and Jeanette Maier and husband, Hans of Lee’s Summit, Missouri; one brother-in-law, Gale Tolbert and wife, Jenny of Raytown, Missouri; one sister-in-law, Debi DeBacco and husband, John of Williamsburg, Virginia; 11 grandchildren, Charles William Mohr, III and wife, Christine, Harley Mohr, Cheyenne Mohr, Travis Mulch, Chase Gilbert, Trey Gilbert, Christian Gilbert, Kolby Gilbert, Alexandria Thomas, Tannor Thomas and Zachary Thomas; 1 great-granddaughter, Annalise Harper Mohr; other relatives and friends.
