Sac Osage Electric Cooperatives Stolen From Early Sunday Morning

Early Sunday morning cooper thieves were attempting to steal from poles that feed one of our substations. Their actions resulted in an outage that affected an entire substation of Sac Osage Electric members. The outage was on our distributor's, KAMO Power, side and their crews were able to restore the substation.

Unfortunately, due to the large number of members out of power all at once, the call center was overwhelmed by the unexpected outage. Thankfully, in a case like this once several calls have been reported, we are able to read meters and get the full extent of the outage, so even without receiving all the calls we know how many are without power.

This incident is another example of how copper theft is a real problem that affects our area. There is a reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of a copper thief. If you see something suspicious around utility poles or substations the number to call statewide is, 1-855-267-7379.
