Yesterday at around 6 pm, the Butler Police Department was dispatched to the 300 block of West Harrison street in reference to a physical disturbance in progress. Upon arrival Officers observed a black male, later identified as 59 year old Mark Brown of Butler, walking down the street carrying a wooden baseball bat.
Butler Police Officers also observed a white male, 36 year old John Ganfield, sitting in a folding chair in his front yard with visible injuries to his head and body. Brown was arrested for assault and placed on a 24 hour hold at the Bates County Jail pending charges.
