Nevada man sentenced to fifteen years on child pornography charge

A Nevada man has been sentenced to fifteen years in federal prison with no parole on child pornography charges.  According to Western District U.S. Attorney, Tammy Dickinson, 56 year old David Lee Knowles of Nevada, was sentenced Tuesday by U.S. District Judge M. Douglas Harpool after Knowles pleaded guilty on April 1st, 2014 to receiving and distributing child pornography between May 31st, 2012 and January 3rd, 2013.  Knowles was already a registered sex offender as a result of 1997 conviction for sexual assault.  

The court also ordered Knowles to forfeit to the government a number of electronic devices that were used to commit the offense.  During the initial investigation, a law enforcement officer was conducting an undercover operation into the distribution of child pornography with peer-to-peer, file-sharing networks.  Knowles computer was identified as sharing videos of child pornography over the internet.  

The case was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney, Patrick Carney and was invested by the F.B.I. and the Joplin, Mo Police Department.
