BUTLER, MO – November 20, 2013 – Mediacom Communications announced today that its customers in Butler and Archie can now watch Duck Dynasty, college sports, and other popular cable channel programs with the higher-quality picture reception of high-definition television reception. The company completed an upgrade to its local cable system earlier this week, and with that investment, added 33 new HD channels to the lineup.
The channel additions are automatic components of a subscription to Family Cable or a premium channel plan, which means there is no added cost to view the HD version of the 29 Family Cable or 4 premium channels. Viewers must be equipped to receive HD signal reception through an HDTV and a Mediacom cable box.
The new HD channels include popular networks such as A&E HD, History HD, FOX News HD, Nickelodeon HD and others. Sports channels added in the HD lineup include ESPN, ESPN2, Fox Sports 1, and Fox Sports Midwest. Other new arrivals include HD versions for cable news channels and general audience networks USA, TBS, Food Network, Animal Planet and others.
In recent weeks, Mediacom expanded its fiber-optic network and upgraded technology in its Butler center, which includes services to Archie. Company officials said the investment is a significant boost to network capabilities so that local customers can use newer digital services, including the choice of viewing a wide variety of channels in the HD format.
“Consumers like having more choices, and they especially enjoy watching more of their favorite programs using the superior quality of high-definition reception,” said Bryan Gann, Mediacom’s director of area operations for northern and central Missouri.
