Weather Update: Bitter Cold Weekend

Showers and thunderstorms will continue to move eastward this morning and some of those may have pea size hail. We'll have a brief break from rain later today and into the night, however more rain is expected to move north by daybreak Thursday. 0.25" to 1" of additional rain is possible by Friday.

The big story however will be an arctic front that moves southeast into the area Thursday night, pouring colder air into the area Friday morning. As colder air arrives, rain will change to snow for some, but remain a mixture of rain/sleet/snow or even freezing rain for others by Friday morning. The highest chances for accumulating winter precipitation will be focused across northern Kansas, Nebraska, Iowa and northwestern portions of Missouri. The weekend still looks bitterly cold!
