Cedar County Prosecutor files appeal against judge in Brown murder case

Joshua Brown
Cedar County Prosecutor Ty Gaither has filed an appeal, challenging Judge Calvin Holden's decision to acquit Joshua Brown of second-degree murder and hindering the prosecution of a felony.

Mr. Brown is accused of the 2014 shooting death of Cedar County Sheriff's deputy Matt Chism after a traffic stop in Eldorado Springs, Missouri.

The incident occurred in November of 2014 when Deputy Chism saw a pickup with its headlights off. When the driver wouldn't stop, a short vehicle pursuit ensued.

Deputy Chism was critically injured after gunshots were fired and he was taken to Cedar County Memorial Hospital where he later died from his injuries.
