Update: Harrisonville Police close investigation on Archie Officer
As of June 30th, 2017 the Harrisonville Police Department has closed its investigation involving the Archie Police Officer who had been taken to the hospital on May 25th, 2017.
After the initial contact by Harrisonville Police Officers, the Officer was transported to a metro hospital for further examination. At the hospital the Archie Officer began exhibiting strange behavior and violent tendencies.
Medical tests were conducted which did not reveal a cause for the behavior. As the investigation continued, concerns were raised that the Officer may have been targeted or unknowingly ingested an unidentified type of synthetic substance.

After extensively following up on numerous tips and possible leads, the Harrisonville Police Department can be reasonably certain that no criminal conduct occurred. The cause of the events and the Officer’s behavior remain undetermined, but the Harrisonville Police Department can confirm that no criminal charges will be sought. There are still pending lab test results but no significant information is expected to be discovered.

Missouri Frogging season begins June 30th at sunset
Frogging season begins June 30 at sunset and ends Oct. 31. Missouri has two frog species that are legal game — bullfrog and green frog. Bullfrogs are larger and therefore more sought-after.
The daily limit is eight frogs of both species combined and the possession limit is 16 frogs of both species combined. Only the daily limit may be possessed on waters and banks of waters where hunting.
Daily limits end at midnight so froggers who catch their daily limits before midnight and then want to return for more frogging after midnight must remove the daily limit of previously caught frogs from the waters or banks before returning for more.
Frogging can be done with either a fishing permit or a small-game hunting permit. Children under the age of 16 and Missouri residents 65 years of age or older are not required to have a permit.
Those with a fishing permit may take frogs by hand, hand net, atlatl, gig, bow, trotline, throw line, limb line, bank line, jug line, snagging, snaring, grabbing or pole and line.
With a small game hunting permit, frogs may be harvested using a .22-caliber or smaller rimfire rifle or pistol, pellet gun, atlatl, bow, crossbow, or by hand or hand net. The use of artificial light is permitted when frogging.

Osceola man injured in St. Clair County crash
The Missouri State Highway Patrol says the accident occurred when the 2007 Chevrolet driven by 51 Marvin E. Roberts of Osceola, Missouri ran off the right side of the roadway on a curve, struck and fence before coming to rest in a field.
Mr. Roberts sustained serious injuries in this accident and he was transported to Cedar County Memorial Hospital in Eldorado, Springs, Missouri for treatment.
The vehicle received moderate damages and was towed from the scene by Bray's Towing of Osceola.

Dustin Tyler Van Winkle, age 29, of Mesa, Arizona passed away Thursday, June 22, 2017 at his home. Funeral services will be 10:30 AM, Thursday, July 6, 2017 at Vansant-Mills Funeral Chapel, Clinton, Missouri.

Robinson is charged with exceeding the posted speed limit by 16-19 miles per hour and expired license. Both charges stem from Osceola Police Department investigation son March 3, 2016. On June 29, the Osceola Police Department arrested Heather Lavish, 35, Osceola, on a St. Clair County warrant charging her with class D felony possession of a controlled substance and a class A misdemeanor unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia. Bond is set at $10,000 cash or surety. The charges stem from an investigation on Jan. 24, when St. Clair County Sheriff’s Office deputies, members of the Mid Missouri Multi Jurisdiction Drug Task Force, and Osceola Police Department officers went to at Lavish’s residence on C Street, Osceola, in reference to drug activity. During the investigation a glass pipe with a white powdery and burnt substance inside was located. A straw was also located inside a plastic container. The substance inside the glass pipe field tested positive for methamphetamine. |

Mrs. Wyatt is currently the library media specialist and curriculum and data coordinator of Oak Grove Middle School in the Oak Grove School District. Mrs. Wyatt has spent 13 of her 15 years as an educator in the Oak Grove School District.
The other two years Wyatt served as an instructional coach for the Fort Osage School District. Wyatt has a reading specialist certification in grades K-12 and has also served as a middle school reading teacher, 5th grade teacher, and five years as an adjunct professor teaching methods of reading instruction for the University of Central Missouri in Warrensburg, MO.
Mrs. Wyatt and her husband Chris, have been married 31 years and have three sons. Wyatt expressed a sincere passion for middle school students and cannot wait to get know the students, staff, and community of Clinton.
Wyatt will officially begin her duties on August 1st, 2017.

WHEATLAND, Missouri (June 30, 2017) - Johnny Fennewald of Appleton City pressured Aaron Poe most of the way and was running out of time. But Fennewald finally made a timely pass to claim the featured Warsaw Auto Marine & RV ULMA Late Model main event Thursday night at Lucas Oil Speedway.
Other winners on Casey's General Stores Thursday Night Thunder Presented by KY3 for Kids included Mike Striegel (Ozark Golf Cars USRA B-Mods), Joe Duvall (Pitts Homes USRA Modifieds) and Toby Ott (Big O Tires Street Stocks).
A total of 117 cars checked into the pits, including 49 Ozark Golf Cars USRA B-Mods, for the pre-holiday-weekend program. In the annual Kids' Bicycle Giveaway, a total of 85 new, donated bicycles were awarded to youngsters during intermission.
Fennewald earned the $1,000 winner's check in the 25-lap Late Model feature. It was the Appleton City driver's third feature win the Late Model division this season.
Warrensburg's Poe started from the pole and took the lead as the green flag flew as Fennewald, who started inside of row two, advanced into second by lap eight.
Those two dueled, with Fennewald repeatedly trying to make an inside pass, until a lap 20 caution bunched the field and set the stage for a five-lap shootout.
Fennewald finally made a pass-attempt stick, coming out of turn four as he took the white flag. He held off Poe, the first-half points champ, by about four car lengths at the finish.
"Aaron I think actually had a better car than I did," Fennewald said. "That was an awesome race there.
"I saw he was really having to let off going into the corner," Fennewald said of Poe. "I guess you have to do what you have to do to get a win. I tried to keep this car as straight as I can. It worked tonight. It was a lot of fun racing with Aaron there and it took me until the last two laps to get him."
Sixteen-year-old Kaeden Cornell of Willard, Mo., a ULMA Late Model rookie, finished a career-best third. Jefferson City's Chris Cox was fourth.
Aaron Marrant, the 2016 track champion, was eliminated in a lap one crash on the back stretch. That was the first of five cautions in the 25-lapper with three of them occurring before an official lap was recorded.
Striegel grabs B-Mod win: Wheatland's Mike Striegel assumed the lead just past the mid-point when leader Andy Bryant had a mechanical problem and went on to capture his first Lucas Oil Speedway feature win of 2017.
"Man, it's been a long time," Striegel said of snapping his winless streak. "The boss man (car owner) John Stewart, he ain't give up on me all year.
"I got a gift from Andy Bryant," added Striegel, who started outside of row two. "I hate to see guys have bad luck like that. He would have had that race, bar none."
Bryant had built up a sizeable lead over Striegel when the race's second caution flew on lap 11 for contact between first-half points champion Shawn Strong and Kris Jackson, who were battling hard for third. Strong was given the black flag and sent to the pits.
During that caution period, Bryant pulled off with mechanical issues, ceding the lead to Striegel with Mike Hailman of Reeds Spring in second. That's the way they ran over the final nine laps, with Taylor Moore of Bois D'Arc winding up in third.
Duvall earns USRA Mod win: Joe Duvall is only an occasional visitor to Lucas Oil Speedway, but he's a contender when he does roll in. The Claremore, Okla., veteran earned his second Pitts Homes USRA Modified victory of the season, taking command over the final eight laps.
"We're gone on the road a lot racing," said Duvall, a frequent USMTS Modified competitor. "Man, I love this place. Up until the last couple of times we've been here, I've never really had anything to take home. Praise God, we had a good hot rod tonight.
"The cool part is my best friends, my wife and daughter are here. I'm usually calling home in the middle of the night."
Terry Schultz took the lead from his outside front-row starting position and was in front when the race's first caution came out on lap 10. Duvall, who started seventh, had moved into second and was starting to pressure Schultz with Terry Davis in third.
It took only two laps after the restart for Duvall to take the lead with an outside pass coming out of turn four. Duvall checked out from there, pulling away for a comfortable win as the rest of the race went caution-free.
Schultz held on for second with Davis third and Jeff Cutshaw in fourth.
Ott does it again in Street Stocks: Midseason Big O Tires Street Stocks champion Toby Ott kicked off the second half in familiar fashion, driving to his third straight feature victory.
Ott, of Wheatland, passed Bobby Barnett for the lead on lap seven and drove away for his fourth win of 2017.
"I'm kind of liking it," Ott said. "Hopefully, there's more to come."
Ott made the winning pass one lap after the race's lone caution. He said Barnett made the slightest of bobbles and he was able to take advantage by driving past on the inside.
"Bobby was running real good, tight and smooth," Ott said. "On that restart he kind of slipped up a little bit on the bottom. He gave me an inch and I was able to grasp it."
Barnett, of Republic, Mo., finished second with Camdenton's Kenny Carroll taking third.

The Springfield News-Leader Media Group Presents a Special Veterans and Military Appreciation Night of the Big Adventure RV Weekly Racing Series as all veterans and military personnel with ID will be admitted free. The Ozark Golf Cars USRA B-Mods will be the evening's featured class running for a special 25-lap, $500-to-win main event.
In addition to the action on the track, the Inaugural "Red White Blue & Que" Presented by Lucas Oil Speedway is set for July 8-9. The Kansas City Barbecue Society-sanctioned competition will bring some of the nation's top barbecue teams to south-central Missouri - and raise funds for a worthy cause.
Keeping with the veterans and military theme, proceeds from the Red White Blue & Que will go to The Warriors Journey, an online resource for military warriors and their families. All veterans and active military, with ID, will be admitted free to the races. And fans attending the July 8 program will have the opportunity to sample barbecue from the competing teams, on the Lucas Oil Speedway midway prior to the races, for $5 for pulled pork and $1 per rib bone, and vote for their favorite to determine "People's Choice" winner.

Other winners on Casey's General Stores Thursday Night Thunder Presented by KY3 for Kids included Mike Striegel (Ozark Golf Cars USRA B-Mods), Joe Duvall (Pitts Homes USRA Modifieds) and Toby Ott (Big O Tires Street Stocks).
A total of 117 cars checked into the pits, including 49 Ozark Golf Cars USRA B-Mods, for the pre-holiday-weekend program. In the annual Kids' Bicycle Giveaway, a total of 85 new, donated bicycles were awarded to youngsters during intermission.
Fennewald earned the $1,000 winner's check in the 25-lap Late Model feature. It was the Appleton City driver's third feature win the Late Model division this season.
Warrensburg's Poe started from the pole and took the lead as the green flag flew as Fennewald, who started inside of row two, advanced into second by lap eight.
Those two dueled, with Fennewald repeatedly trying to make an inside pass, until a lap 20 caution bunched the field and set the stage for a five-lap shootout.
Fennewald finally made a pass-attempt stick, coming out of turn four as he took the white flag. He held off Poe, the first-half points champ, by about four car lengths at the finish.
"Aaron I think actually had a better car than I did," Fennewald said. "That was an awesome race there.
"I saw he was really having to let off going into the corner," Fennewald said of Poe. "I guess you have to do what you have to do to get a win. I tried to keep this car as straight as I can. It worked tonight. It was a lot of fun racing with Aaron there and it took me until the last two laps to get him."
Sixteen-year-old Kaeden Cornell of Willard, Mo., a ULMA Late Model rookie, finished a career-best third. Jefferson City's Chris Cox was fourth.
Aaron Marrant, the 2016 track champion, was eliminated in a lap one crash on the back stretch. That was the first of five cautions in the 25-lapper with three of them occurring before an official lap was recorded.
Striegel grabs B-Mod win: Wheatland's Mike Striegel assumed the lead just past the mid-point when leader Andy Bryant had a mechanical problem and went on to capture his first Lucas Oil Speedway feature win of 2017.
"Man, it's been a long time," Striegel said of snapping his winless streak. "The boss man (car owner) John Stewart, he ain't give up on me all year.
"I got a gift from Andy Bryant," added Striegel, who started outside of row two. "I hate to see guys have bad luck like that. He would have had that race, bar none."
Bryant had built up a sizeable lead over Striegel when the race's second caution flew on lap 11 for contact between first-half points champion Shawn Strong and Kris Jackson, who were battling hard for third. Strong was given the black flag and sent to the pits.
During that caution period, Bryant pulled off with mechanical issues, ceding the lead to Striegel with Mike Hailman of Reeds Spring in second. That's the way they ran over the final nine laps, with Taylor Moore of Bois D'Arc winding up in third.
Duvall earns USRA Mod win: Joe Duvall is only an occasional visitor to Lucas Oil Speedway, but he's a contender when he does roll in. The Claremore, Okla., veteran earned his second Pitts Homes USRA Modified victory of the season, taking command over the final eight laps.
"We're gone on the road a lot racing," said Duvall, a frequent USMTS Modified competitor. "Man, I love this place. Up until the last couple of times we've been here, I've never really had anything to take home. Praise God, we had a good hot rod tonight.
"The cool part is my best friends, my wife and daughter are here. I'm usually calling home in the middle of the night."
Terry Schultz took the lead from his outside front-row starting position and was in front when the race's first caution came out on lap 10. Duvall, who started seventh, had moved into second and was starting to pressure Schultz with Terry Davis in third.
It took only two laps after the restart for Duvall to take the lead with an outside pass coming out of turn four. Duvall checked out from there, pulling away for a comfortable win as the rest of the race went caution-free.
Schultz held on for second with Davis third and Jeff Cutshaw in fourth.
Ott does it again in Street Stocks: Midseason Big O Tires Street Stocks champion Toby Ott kicked off the second half in familiar fashion, driving to his third straight feature victory.
Ott, of Wheatland, passed Bobby Barnett for the lead on lap seven and drove away for his fourth win of 2017.
"I'm kind of liking it," Ott said. "Hopefully, there's more to come."
Ott made the winning pass one lap after the race's lone caution. He said Barnett made the slightest of bobbles and he was able to take advantage by driving past on the inside.
"Bobby was running real good, tight and smooth," Ott said. "On that restart he kind of slipped up a little bit on the bottom. He gave me an inch and I was able to grasp it."
Barnett, of Republic, Mo., finished second with Camdenton's Kenny Carroll taking third.

One shot in Belton
Belton police said one person suffered a gunshot wound, which did not appear to be life-threatening, and was transferred to an area hospital. Police identified the suspects and took them into custody.
As of June 27th, Belton police said no suspects have been charged, and the incident is still under investigation.

Obituary - Eleen B. McCulloh
Eleen is survived by her two sons, Jerry D. McCulloh of Garden City, Missouri, and Coburn L. McCulloh and his wife Denise of Urich, Missouri; four grandchildren, Jennifer White and her husband Joe, JoLynn Lovewell and her husband Randy, Kyle McCulloh and Aaron McCulloh; four great grandchildren, Trevor, Tanner and Trenton White, Hunter Lovewell; other relatives and many friends.
Funeral services are pending under the direction of Dickey Funeral Home, Garden City, Missouri.

Traffic stop leads to drug arrest in Clinton
K9 Officer John Scott and his partner, Belgian Malinois Jhon, arrived on the scene to assist. K9 Jhon alerted officers to the presence of the drugs and they were consequently discovered by the officers.
Officers arrested 37 year old Summer Hope Vanblaricon of Clinton for Possession of a Controlled Substances believed to be marijuana and methamphetamine.
Disturbance Leads to Warrant Arrest in Garden City
A records check of the 39 year old male from Garden City revealed a warrant for his arrest. The man was arrested and transported to the Garden City Police Department where he later posted bond. #GCMOPD

Bates County Coroner Greg D. Mullinax has completed 2017 Medicolegal Death Investigation training hosted by the Missouri Coroners and Medical Examiners Association at their conference in Jefferson City.
One area of focus was the rapidly emerging trend of Fentanyl, Fentanyl Analogs, and Heroin drugs. One drug in particular, Carfentanil, is approximately 10,000 times more potent than morphine.

The drug is so potent that in one case study, a sheriff's deputy became ill within seconds of only a splash exposure. Knowing where these drugs originate, and identifying signs of fatal overdose, is essential to a Coroner today.
A cold case Homicide was presented by the U.S. Department of Justice and Missouri State Highway Patrol, demonstrating the importance of diligence in cold cases and techniques for preserving evidence throughout many years. Although cold cases can be the most challenging, many outside resources exist for assistance.
Other topics covered included gunshot wound analysis and ballistic evidence, and forensic entomology in the determination of accurate time of death.
"The challenges to a Coroner today in determining an accurate cause of death are complex," said Coroner Mullinax. "New drug analogs are finding their way into our neighborhoods at an mind-blowing rate, and the potency of these substances is almost impossible to comprehend. I have to stay current on what is known of these substances and how to identify them, otherwise a cause of death could potentially be mistaken.”
"I'm grateful that our Commissioners and my office's budget allow for these types of training, because they do cost money - but you can never have enough. Even today, I'm looking ahead to courses available and planning to attend. The Bates County Coroner's Office will stay on the cutting edge of death investigation technology and practice.”

Wilson was appointed to the Patrol on July 1, 1995, as a member of the 70th Recruit Class. After graduating from the Patrol's Law Enforcement Academy, he was assigned to Troop E, Zone 1, Butler County. On August 1, 1998, he transferred to Troop E, Zone 12, Fredericktown. On September 1, 2005, he transferred to Troop E, Zone 12, Bollinger and Cape Girardeau counties. Wilson was promoted to corporal on August 6, 2006, and assigned assistant zone supervisor of Troop E, Zone 8, Pemiscot and New Madrid counties. He transferred to the Governor’s Security Division, General Headquarters, Jefferson City, on August 26, 2007. While serving in that capacity, he was promoted to sergeant on February 1, 2010.
Lt. Wilson grew up in Prospect, KY. He graduated from Oldham County High School in Buckner, KY, in 1988. In 1993, he graduated with a Bachelor of Science in administration of justice from the University of Louisville in Louisville, KY.
