James was born September 21, 1933 in Henry County, Missouri the son of Paul and Opal (Bunch) Nichols. He was a veteran of the United States Army. In his lifetime James drove a school bus for the Windsor and Leesville school districts, raised cattle, hogs, and produce, and was the owner of Nichols Corner, a local flea market.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Judy in 1984, a brother Frank, and niece Shirley Snorgrass.
Survivors include two sons, David and Darren Nichols (Jessica), all of the home, two brothers, John and Dale Nichols, both of Tightwad, Missouri, and a sister, Pauline Silvers of Warrensburg, Missouri.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Vansant-Mills Funeral Home of Clinton, Missouri.
