Louise Dunham of Adrian, MO passed away peacefully on September 22, 2013, at Adrian Manor. Graveside services 10:00 a.m. Thursday, September 26, 2013, at Crescent Hill Cemetery with Tommy Arnold officiating. Visitation 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 25 at the Atkinson Funeral Home, Adrian. Louise requested any donations be made to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or website: http://www.stjude.org or phone (800) 805-5856.

She was a devoted follower of Jesus Christ and long-time member of Calvary Baptist Church. Louise was born February 2, 1920, in Fayetteville, AR, the seventh child of Sam and Viola Guinn Crozier. At a very young age, she moved with her family to Bates County, Missouri. Louise joined and was baptized at Fairview Baptist Church near Ballard, MO. She married the love of her life, Floyd, on December 26, 1935. For many years, they farmed in Vernon and Bates Counties, later moving to Adrian. She and Floyd were the parents of two children, Lena Marie and Gary. Floyd passed away in 1970; Louise was self-supporting and reliant for the past 43 years.

Louise was employed by the Earl J. Haas Store for many years. She was an original employee of Yoss Thriftway for 23 years until she retired at the age of 78. Louise greatly enjoyed her co-workers and meeting the public. She was a member of Order of Eastern Star and served as Deer Creek tax collector for several years. As a “child of the Depression” and raised on the farm, hard work was no stranger; stretching limited resources was an innate ability. Her entire life, she poured herself into the lives of her two children, their spouses, five grandchildren, and seven great grandchildren whom she deliberately and wholeheartedly loved. Louise was well-known for her culinary skills, especially her baking, making jellies & jams and Christmas cookies & candies. Nothing gave her more pleasure than serving her family her homemade bread, cinnamon rolls, noodles, or banana cream pie. She was an avid gardener, canning, freezing, and putting up anything and everything in season. If anyone left her home hungry, it was his or her own fault. One of the highlights of her life was the opportunity to visit, along with her two sisters and two nieces, Ireland, the homeland of both the Crozier and Guinn families.

Louise loved the simple things in life. She loved raising flowers and a garden. She loved crocheting rag rugs. She loved auctions and finding a bargain. She loved Monday night Optimist bingo. She loved fried chicken and homegrown tomatoes. She loved to hunt mushrooms and pick greens in the spring and pick up pecans in the fall. She loved the independence of driving around in her little white Topaz. She loved her family and friends. She loved the Lord. Her wisdom, perspective, beauty, sweet laughter, and unwavering loyalty will be deeply missed. For each member of her family, she had true, unconditional love.

Louise was preceded in death by her parents, Sam and Viola Crozier; her husband, Floyd; her six siblings and their spouses, her sons-in law, Russ and Kenny. Survivors include children, Lena Marie and Gary & Carolyn; grandchildren, Allen (Cindy) Sollars, Denise (Robert) Schuchmann, Alison (Jody) Regg, Ashlee (Troy) Gilmore, Lindsay (Dave) Beasley; and great-grandchildren, Brian (Katie) Sollars, Brianne Schuchmann, Luke & Tyler Beasley, and Hunter, Carson & Brooke Regg; and 9 nieces and nephews. Allen and Cindy held a very special place in her heart due to their many years of unselfish attention to, and care of, “Grandma”. Cindy was an extra special dedicated caregiver for whom the entire family is very thankful.
