Roger Irvin, attorney for plaintiffs Larry and Claudia Marcusson of Amoret filed a complaint against the Miami R-1 school board and superintendent on June 27th claiming violations of the Missouri Sunshine Law. Those named in the suit are superintendent Leonard Tourtillott, board members Les Neider, Vickie Popplewell, Jeff Johnston, Mary Limpus, Aaron Muller, Patricia Smith and Ephie Driver.
The complaint filed cites the school board's failure to post proper notice of the May 16, 2011 meeting and that the board further violated laws as the meeting continued even though board members knew the meeting did not comply with Missouri laws.
Damages sought by the Marcussons and additional details will be posted as that information becomes available.
