Ladies Aid Meeting news...
21 members of the Double Branch Christian Church Ladies Aid met Thursday August 25th at 6:30 pm in the fellowship hall. The theme was Mexico our neighbor to the south, with Mexican food, decorations and
trivia. One member even knew the name of a famous Mexican comedian named Cantinflas who appeared in an Oscar winning movie. We won't say how long ago that was but David Niven starred in it (who?). We blessed a warm handmade shawl for Nora Smalley who is still recuperating very slowly from her leg injury. Thanks to Suzanne Noe who makes all the prayer shawls. We each took a quilt square to decorate for a comforter we are making. Next month we will tie it together so squares must be finished by next Sunday and turned in to Beverly. One quilt is ready to be used for the next silent auction this fall thanks to our good friend Phyllis Stewart. Treasurer's report was given by Doris Null. Keep collecting those Best Choice labels. We donated money to the high school Sunday school class shoe box ministry so they can buy goodies for them. Thanks to the family of Jack Kenney for their donations to us we were thankful to be there to serve the funeral dinner. The lesson from Beverly Sullins was to seek God. That's all we have to do he is everywhere. We collected school supplies for Moss House and we will be collecting them again next time.
Next meeting will be September the 22nd at noon at the church with hostesses Donna Porter and Beverly Sullins. Don't forget to fly your flag on Sunday Sept. 11th and the Papinville Picnic is the 24th. Susie Hess, reporter
