Morris E. McElwain, 42, Garden City, wearing a seat belt, southbound in a 2000 Chevrolet truck, failed to see a 2007 Suzuki SUV southbound by Michelle D. Baker, 43, Nevada, wearing a seat belt. Subsequently, the McElwain vehicle traveled in front of the Baker vehicle. The Baker vehicle traveled off the right edge of the highway. Striking a bridge pillar, the McElwain vehicle then came to a final rest off of the highway.
Michelle D. Baker experienced minor injuries and refused treatment at the scene. Her vehicle was totaled and removed from the scene by Johnson’s Towing. The McElwain vehicle had moderate damage and was driven from the scene.
Missouri Highway Patrol Trooper A.J. Bell investigated the accident. Investigation is continuing.
