On Saturday morning, March 8, Robin L. Perry, 48, Kansas City, was arrested on three felony charges after an off duty St. Clair County Sheriff’s Office detective caught him attempting to steal copper from an air conditioning unit and propane tank at the Valley Center United Church of Christ, Deepwater. Perry attempted to flee in a nearby field, but was apprehended a short time later.
The investigation revealed evidence inside Perry’s vehicle that appeared to be taken from the church as well as other items. At that time, deputies were advised air conditioning units were reported stolen from the Boy Scout Hall located at the intersection of A Highway and 13 Highway near Lowry City. Evidence from the stealing at the Boy Scout Hall was also located in Perry’s vehicle.
An arrest warrant was obtained the same day charging Perry with stealing wire/electrical transformer or other device/pipe, a class C felony; resisting/interfering with arrest for a felony, a class D felony; and receiving stolen property, a class C felony.
