Obituary - Kristina L. “Cricket” Dodson

Kristina L. “Cricket” Dodson,
Kristina L. “Cricket” Dodson, age 70, resident of Fort Scott, Kansas, died Thursday, November 19, 2015, at her home. She was born on August 29, 1945, in Vallejo, California, the daughter of Ellwood and Harriet Hoffman Stambaugh. She graduated High School in Prescott, Kansas, with the class of 1963. She married Leon “Bub” Walrod on December 27, 1963. They were blessed with one daughter, Amber. They later divorced. She married Ronald L. Dodson on July 12, 1990. He preceded her in death on September 4, 1992. Kristina worked for the Western Insurance Company in Fort Scott before moving to Russell, Kansas, for two years. Upon moving back to Fort Scott, she began her career as customer service supervisor with the Gas Service Company which later merged with Westar. She retired after 35 years. She was an independent demonstrator for Stampin’ Up, and was diligent in sending personalized cards to anyone needing encouragement. She enjoyed attending Fort Scott High School sporting events and was a huge Kansas City Royals fan. Kristina cherished spending time with Amber, shopping, watching movies, and dining out. She was a member of the Community Christian Church.

Survivors include her daughter Amber, Lenexa, Kansas; a brother, Louis Stambaugh and wife Marita, Lumberton, Texas; two sisters, Anke Dunn and husband Will, Tulsa, Oklahoma, and Lanza Coe and husband Ben, McKinney, Texas; an aunt, Botts Hall and husband Burdell, Morton, Illinois; three nieces and five nephews. In addition to her husband Ron, she was preceded in death by her parents.

Rev. Kevin Moyers will conduct funeral services at 10:00 AM Tuesday, November 24th, at the Community Christian Church. Burial will follow in the Evergreen Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 Monday evening at the Cheney Witt Chapel. Memorials are suggested to either Fort Scott High School Athletics or Community Christian Church and may be left in care of the Cheney Witt Chapel, PO Box 347, 201 S. Main, Fort Scott, Kansas 66701.
