Louise S. Gregg, 96, was born to Mr. and Mrs. Anton Fick on the family farm in Germantown, Missouri May 16, 1919. She passed away November 21, 2015 at Countryside Estates residential care facility in Appleton City, Missouri.
Louise lived in the Germantown and Appleton City area all of her life except a few years during the depression. After her marriage to Ralph M. Gregg October 10, 1937 they moved to California where he worked in the logging industry. They were blessed with two sons. Upon their return to Missouri in 1941 they acquired land south-east of Appleton City where they farmed and raised cattle until retiring in 1988. Ralph died in 1996 and Louise remained on their farm, her home of 74 years, until late December of 2014 when she moved to the residential care facility in Appleton City. She told her family she wished to celebrate one more Thanksgiving and Christmas at the family farm before moving to town.
Through the years Louise had attended Spring Grove Church and later the Church of God (Holiness) in Appleton City. She was a member of the Red Hat Club loving to socialize with the ladies in her bright red hat and purple attire. Her favorite pass time was quilting. She had made over 100 beautiful quilts in her life-time, sharing them with family and friends. She was a member of the Rockville Quilting Group and also quilted with the Ohio Christian Church ladies group. She and Ralph hosted many card parties in their home, loving the time spent with friends playing Pitch. Her family will attest to the fact that she was undeniably the best pie baker and chicken fryer ever. Louise also had a great love for fast cars, still owning a bright red Mustang. Louise had a great joy of spirit and loved family, friends and life. She will be greatly missed.
Preceding Louise in death were her parents; her husband; one son Billy J. Gregg; one granddaughter Rhonda (Gregg) Wolf; and her eight siblings: Leonard, Raymond, Richard, Estel, George, Laura, Gertrude and Helen.
Survivors include: two sons, Donald Gregg (Barbara) and Ronald Gregg (Lisa); three grandchildren, Heath Gregg (Debbie), Kirsten Gregg and Erich Gregg; and eight great-grandchildren: Bradley and Daniel Wolf, Hannah and Hayden Gregg, Kelsey and Gregg Puttkammer, Samantha and Erica Gregg.
