Larry Kent Allen |
Larry Kent Allen was born on January 5, 1944, in Fort Scott, KS, to Ruth and T.J. Allen and went home to join family on Christmas Day 2016. Larry's childhood was spent in Richards, MO, where he graduated from high school in May of 1962.
After graduating, he started working at Key Work Clothes and continued to live in Richards, MO, until he married his grade school love, Rosalita Williams, on May 15, 1964. They were happily married for 52 years living in Ft. Scott, KS.
Following his time at Keys Work Clothes, he decided to pursue his love of construction by working at Allen's Construction where he found his nitch in life as a heavy equipment operator. After working there for several years, he went to work as a dragline operator for area coal companies. During this time, he became one of the best heavy equipment operators in this part of the country. In 1992 he decided to start his own backhoe business, which became Larry Allen's Backhoe Service. After many successful years, he then retired in 2014. Larry was a selfless man that cared about many, and would help anyone at any given time. He along with his wife, Rosalita, and family enjoyed motorcycle trips, camping adventures, four wheeling, tractor pulling, boating, and in later years the coffee shops. Larry was best known to be able to build and fix anything, and his ability to gain love and trust of anyone who met him. Larry will be sadly missed here on earth, but will be watching over all of us for years to come. His advice to you would be to enjoy every moment, love your family and friends, and not to stress out over the small things.
He will be missed by his wife, Rosalita of the home; three children Kevin Allen, of Fort Scott, Kim Krokroskia and husband Sean, of Fort Scott, Kacie Aikin and husband Kent, of Fort Scott; 8 grandchildren, Maddi Thorpe and husband Jason, Jocie Allen, Taylor, Gracie, and Lanie Krokroskia, Kyndal, Kaylee, and Kently Aikin. Also his brother Rick Allen and wife Teresa, his sister Johnna Ann Fowler and husband Rusty, and sister-in-law Alice Allen. He has now joined his father and mother, T.J. and Ruth Allen, brothers, T.J (Jay) Allen, Fred Allen, Teddy Ray, and a sister Pat Nichols.
Rev. Dr. Jared Witt will conduct funeral services at 10:00 a.m. Friday, December 30, 2016, at The First Presbyterian Church of Fort Scott. Burial will follow in the East Liberty Cemetery, Stotesbury, MO. The family will receive friends Thursday from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at The Cheney Witt Chapel.
