Rural residence burns to the ground this evening

Around 8:30 this evening Adrian, Amsterdam and Drexel fire departments were dispatched on a report of a house fire on county road 5001 just off AA highway in northern Bates County. Upon arrival the unoccupied structure had already burned to the ground.

Firefighters were on the scene approximately 2 1/2 hours and reported back in service shortly after 10 p.m.
