Dress code and schedule changes for Butler R-V students

A change has been made regarding the dress code for Butler R-V students in the upcoming 2010-2011 school year. No longer will shorts or skirts with holes, rips or tears or jeans with holes above the knees be permitted on the school premises.

The exact verbiage in the updated policy reads "All shorts and skirts must be of solid material and not be distressed or have holes. In addition, jeans must be of solid material from the knees up and not be distressed or have holes."

Also according to Butler R-V Superintendent Alan Stauffacher, students and parents need to be aware of a slight time adjustment for the upcoming school year- noting that start time for the day will begin at 7:50 a.m. instead of 8:10. Likewise the school day will end at 2:55 p.m. instead of 3:15 p.m.

The overall adjustment (which equates to an earlier dismissal) allows for students to complete their academic day before boarding a bus for an activity trip. The previous schedule, in some instances, would require that students leave classes early in order get to a destination on time. The need to free up time is primarily based on the fact the distance to travel within the conference has increased.

Several alternatives to the time change were explored prior making it official.
