New track nearly complete

Notes from the Butler R-V school board meeting last night:

Old Business:
The board heard from Alan Stauffacher about the track. They are currently waiting on a transformer to be installed and a turnstile to be delivered and installed.

The board approved the high school dress-code changes as presented by Steve Hubbard High School Principal.

New Business:
The board heard reports from Library Media and Counseling departments.
The board approved the high school attendance modifications which will include additional incentives for students to be present at school.

The board approved modifications to the high school cell phone policy which would ban cell phones possession from the academic day. Reasoning provided for implementing the ban included: students using the cell phones to cheat, to take inappropriate pictures, and school attorneys urging school administrators to remove them.

The board approved the employee Job Descriptions as presented.
The board approved policy GBH on staff electronic communications.
The board heard from Marci Beckley on Co-Teaching. The district has data that students who come from co-teaching models have increased performance and Butler Schools has become a model for other schools to view.

Closed Session:
The board accepted the resignation of Rebecca Toellner from Special Education. The board hired Danielle Freeman for Special Education.
The board accepted two student applications for early graduation.
