Vernon County Wanted Suspect Caught

Wanted suspect has been arrested!!!

The Vernon County Sheriffs Office would like to thank everyone for all the tips and information. Mr Chew was arrested In Cherokee KS today. Mr Chew faces charges in KS as well as Mo. Chew who was wanted for numourous charges including burglary, assult, illegal burning, vehicle theft and more.




Obituary - Tonia Dee Miller


Funeral services for Tonia Dee Miller will be 2:00 PM Thursday, May 2, 2013 at the Bittiker Funeral Home, 1201 N. 65 Hwy., Carrollton, Missouri. Visitation will be prior to services, 12:30 PM also at Bittiker Funeral Home. Burial in Oak Hill Cemetery, Carrollton, Missouri. Contributions are suggested to charity of donor's choice.
Tonia Dee Miller, 60, passed away April 28, 2013. Local survivors include her parents, H.D. and Joane Wilson, and sister Teresa Wilson, all of Butler, Missouri; and sister Tamara Deardorff and husband Rich of Mobile, Alabama. A complete obituary will be provided as the information becomes available.

The horse that was missing last night from the Alvin Griffin residents has been located and is back where it belongs. The horse was found this morning in a yard and Alvin was notified. I spoke with him and he would like to give a big THANK YOU to Jamie and Erin Barnes for finding his horse and contacting him.

Rich Hill PTO Carnival Night

Rich Hill Elementary PTO Carnival is set for Friday, May 17th at the Elementary school from 6 to 8pm, with concessions opening at 5:30pm... Wristbands and tickets will go on sale Monday May 6t, wristbands will be $7.00 in advance and $10.00 at the door or Five tickets for one dollar in advance or four tickets for one dollar at the door.

Conference track results


Last night our Butler Bears traveled up to William Christman High School in Independence to participate in our XRC Conference Track Meet hosted by St. Mary’s.
The weather was beautiful and it was a great turnout by all that participated! Everyone’s hard work and perseverance was greatly appreciated! Congratulations to all conference champions and those setting personal bests yesterday!
The  Bears Track Team worked very hard and came away with a 3rd place finish by earning 108.5 points.
The following are the top 8 place finishers who contributed to the 3rd place finish by earning points for their team!
The Butler Bears will travel to Holden this Saturday, May 4th to participate in the district track meet. The top 4 place finishers in each event will be moving on to the sectional track meet the following Saturday.

Vernon County Arrest


A warrant has been issued for a Vernon County resident for Forcible Rape and Statutory Sodomy in the First Degree of a child. The suspect was arrested late Saturday night by Sheriff’s Deputies and placed on a 24 hour hold after receiving a report of the crime. Investigators with the Sheriff’s Office investigated the case and applied for the warrant. The suspect is being held in the Vernon County Jail with a $500,000.00 cash only bond. The suspect was already registered as a sex offender.

These players received All-District Honors:  Brett Miller, Trey Gustin, Geoffrey Algiere, & Keagan Miller. All four qualified as a Team to move on to the Sectional Tournament in Blue Springs on May the 6th. Wish them Luck!

Brett Miller had the lowest individual score of 77, out of the entire district 7 & 8 competition which included 50 golfers in all. He was honored with the 1st place All-District Individual Medal!

Shriners Onions‏ for sale


The Bates County Shrine Club will be selling jumbo Vidalia onions this year. They will be sold at The Wal Mart parking lot in Butler, Kreisler Drug Store in Appleton City, McBee,s General Store in Amsterdam, and the commuter parking lot in Adrian. We are expecting to get them May 9th and hope to be selling them by the May 10th. These onions are supposed to be bigger and better than last years, but as you know if your not completely satisfied with them bring them back and will refund your money.  We would also like to thank everyone for all the support they have given us and the children we help. Van in Ditch

Bates County Sheriff has been notified of a van that is off the roadway and in a ditch South of Drexel around the corner of AA Highway and 18 Highway. This is not blocking the roadway so traveling in this area should be ok.

Lost Horse


Hello we have lost our miniture horse today. She got out of her pen around 3pm Monday April 29th and headed north. We live on 8002 and 1001 road NW of Passaic.
