Austin Eugene Short, 76, of Clinton, Missouri, departed this life on October 22, 2016, at Golden Valley Memorial Hospital, Clinton, Missouri. Austin will lie in state from 12-5pm Friday, October 28, 2016 in the Vansant-Mills Chapel. Private family graveside services will be held on Saturday, October 29, 2016. Austin was born on October 12, 1940 in rural Clinton, Missouri, the son of Robert L. Short and Mary Fyrne Anderson Short. He was a carpenter by trade all his life. Austin enjoyed bowling and playing golf. Austin also loved his pets. 

Austin is survived by four sisters; Juanita Custer, Florissant, Missouri, Carol McKeehan (Tom) of Clinton, Missouri; Judy Hall of Clinton, Missouri, and Darlene Thompson (Bill) of Topeka, Kansas, one brother; Ray Short (Joyce) of Clinton, Missouri, a sister-in-law; Mary Jo Short of Clinton, Missouri, and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by both of his parents, his brother Robert L. Short Jr. and his sister Bernice Bentley.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Vansant-Mills Funeral Home of Clinton, Missouri.
