Donna Jean McCoy, 74, of Harrisonville, Missouri died Saturday, August 25, 2012 at her home. Funeral services will be 2:00 pm Tuesday, August 28, 2012 at the Atkinson Funeral Home in Adrian, Missouri. The family will receive friends from 1;00-2:00 pm Tuesday at the Atkinson Chapel in Adrian. Burial will be in Crescent Hill Cemetery, Adrian, Missouri. Memorial contributions may be made to Kansas City Hospice & Palliative Care, 9221 Ward Parkway, Suite 100, Kansas City, MO 64114.
Donna Jean (Bishop) McCoy was born March 25, 1938 in Rainey, Missouri to James C. and Dimple (Bruce) Bishop. Donna accepted Christ in her life as a young woman. On June 12, 1954 she was united in marriage to Alvin Lee Thomas McCoy at her parents’ home in Collins, Missouri by Rev. E. Leo Balf. They were married for 58 years.
Donna and Alvin moved to the Archie, Missouri area in 1960. She worked as a nurse’s aide at the Bates County Hospital in Butler, MO for 5 years. She was a member of the Adrian Christian Church in Adrian.
Donna was preceded in death by her parents, one grandchild, Joseph Patrick McCoy, twin great-grandsons, Matthew and Jordan Arnold and a son-in-law, Randy Reynolds. She is survived by her husband, Alvin of the home; five children, Jimmy McCoy of Butler, Missouri, David McCoy and wife, Regena, of Kansas City, Missouri, Janice McCoy of the home, Gary McCoy and wife, Tammy, of Butler, Missouri and Sandi Reynolds and Dave Lawson of Adrian, Missouri; three sisters, Evelyn Braden and husband, Bob, Sue Mitchell and husband, Dennis, all of Collins, Missouri and Carolyn Hibbs and husband, Don, of Windsor, Missouri; 16 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great-grandchild. Donna will be missed by her family and friends.
