Minor injuries in rollover accident

Jerry Wood, 64, of Appleton City escaped serious injury around 9:30 this morning in an accident on East 52 Highway just West of route O. Wood was Westbound when he lost control of his 2006 Ford Escape after hitting a slick spot in the road. The vehicle left the roadway, struck an embankment and came to a rest on the passenger side. According to MSHP Trooper Jones, Wood lost control as the vehicle's cruise control was set when it encountered the icy spot on the roadway. Bates County EMS treated Wood for minor injuries at the scene.
