TheBatesCountySheriff’sOfficerespondedtoRR1Box252AAmoret,Missouri. TheDeputieswerethereinsearchofEarnestSchmidt. SchmidtwaswantedforParoleViolationforBurglary,Stealingandfailingtocompleteadrugtreatmentprogram. Inconjunctiontothewarrant,BatesCountyDetectiveswantedtospeakwithSchmidtinreferencetoanassaultandseveralburglariesinthearea.

WhileDeputieswerespeakingwiththehomeowneroneofthemnoticedSchmidtpeakingaroundacornerdownthehall. TheDeputyidentifiedSchmidtandgavechaseintoabedroom. AstheyenteredthebedroomtheDeputyobservedSchmidttossingabagbehindthenightstand. Thebedroomwasoccupiedbyasmallchild. Schmidtwasthentakenintocustodywithoutincident.

Thebagwasrecoveredfrombehindthenightstand. Inthebagwereseveralitemsofdrugparaphernaliatoincludespoonsandsyringesalongwithmultiplebagsofawhitecrystalsubstance. ThecrystalsubstancefieldtestedpositiveforMethamphetamineandwillbesenttothecrimelabfortesting. ChargeshavebeensubmittedtotheProsecutorforhisreview.
