Kimberly Ball was in Macon working with her husband for the week at one of the Sonic Drive-Ins that they own. She had no idea that a trip to get gas at a local gas station on March 20 would result in winning $100,000 on a “$4,000,000 Payout” Scratchers ticket.
The Clinton resident purchased $50 in Scratchers tickets: one “50X The Cash,” and two from “$4,000,000 Payout.”
“My brother gave me this ticket for my birthday, and I won $100,” said Ball talking about the “$4,000,000 Payout” Scratchers game. “So that’s why I bought two.”
It was the second ticket, and the first number she scratched that revealed her big $100,000 win.
“I called my husband and said, ‘You need to tell me if I am seeing this right!’” said Ball. “My son is part owner with us, and my daughter was working, as well, so we all just hugged and cried. It was a happy family moment.”
Still fresh in their minds, Ball said they have a few ideas about what to do with their winnings.
“We talked about paying off my car, putting some in savings and maybe a trip this summer,” she said. “My daughter is dying to go back to Mexico. Man, this is amazing. I am so happy.”
Ball says she buys Missouri Lottery Scratchers tickets a couple times a month. She bought her $100,000 winning Scratchers ticket at Casey’s, 807 S. Missouri St., in Macon.
“$4,000,000 Payout” is a $20 Scratchers game introduced in on Sept. 9, 2015. It offers top prizes of $4 million and $90 million in total prizes.
