Two men were stopped last week and arrested by law enforcement officers on Highway 13 north of Clinton in Henry County. The arrest took place on Wednesday night, March 22.
The two men, Philip George, 30, and Jose Aguilar-Cruz, 39, have been charged in federal court with distribution of around 50 grams of methamphetamine, according to
the Springfield News-Leader.
Law enforcement officers viewed George and Aguilar-Cruz sell about a half pound of methamphetamine on Wednesday evening, March 22. The transaction took place in the parking lot of a Wendy’s Restaurant in Bolivar, located in Polk County.
The two drug dealers fled north on Highway 13 after Troopers of the Missouri Highway Patrol attempted to stop them. A slight distance north of Clinton, spike strips were used by law enforcement officers to stop the vehicle and take the two men into custody.
On Thursday, March 23, both George and Aguilar-Cruz were charged in federal court. Both men were placed in the Greene County Jail. George and Aguilar-Cruz had a hold placed on them by the Drug Enforcement Administration. In addition, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement Special Agents placed a second hold on Aguilar-Cruz.
Special Agents of the Federal Drug Enforcement Administration, according to the complaint filed in federal district court, have been investigating drug selling rings in Southwest Missouri and elsewhere supplied with drugs by Aguilar-Cruz.
