Blue meth - coming soon to a basement near you?

You have to wonder if the 1969 movie Easy Rider were remade today, would the main characters forgo marijuana for something a little harder? Times have certainly changed, and so have the formulas for recreational drugs. The newest wave to hit is blue meth and its appearance is quite like powdered laundry detergent.

Why blue? Authorities are investigating, but one theory is that blue coloring is added to hinder the test done in the field to determine if a substance is indeed meth. The test however, still works regardless of what color has been added.

Another possibility is that meth manufacturers are adding a color in order to 'brand' their mix for drug dealers. As speculation continues, there is a possibility that colors are being added to attract a younger crowd of drug users.

At this time, tests are being conducted to see if the blue color is in fact due to a change in the manufacturers formula.
