William F. “Bill” Emmett, 70 of Drexel, passed away Tuesday, July 20, 2010 at his home in Drexel.
Bill was born October 12, 1939 in McAllen, Tx., son of Laverdue Clara and James Franklin Emmett. He married Karol Ann Gehrke, and they have been married 35 years and have six children. Bill retired following a career in the United States Air Force, and retired often from a handful of occupations.
Bill was preceded in death by his mother and father, one sister, Betty Arms, and one son, Adam Franklin Emmett. He leaves behind his wife Karol, and six children: Deboralynn Swanson of Oconomawoe, Wis., Daniel Emmett of Colorado Springs, Co., Kathy Johnson of Archie, Mo., Cheri Nichols of Winterhaven, Fl., Aaron Keel of Rich Hill, Mo., and William B. Emmett of Fort Myers, Florida. He is also survived by 19 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren, step-mother Mary Emmett of Harrisonville, two brothers, James and Bob, and 9 sisters: Patsy, Gracie, Lois, Sue, Retta, Elsie, Mac, Rhea and Val.
Visitation will be from 10-11am Friday, July 23 at the Drexel Christian Church, with a funeral service at 11am at the church, the Rev. Jeff Mallams presiding. Burial with military honors will follow at Sharon Cemetery, Drexel. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions in Bill’s name to the Bill Emmett memorial fund at Citizens Bank, Drexel.
