Wayne Deel, 84, died August 5, 2012 at Adrian Manor in Adrian, Missouri. Wayne was born January 17, 1928 in Miami County, Kansas, son of Carl Wilson and Vick Doris (Bodenhamer) Deel.

Wayne was a longtime rural farmer along with his father. He could grow corn taller than anyone in the area. He helped build Linn Valley Golf Course, and was a green’s keeper and mower until his retirement in 2010. Working at the golf course was just like being in a big back yard to him. People always said, what normal people got done in four days, Wayne got done in one. Wayne served in the U.S. Navy from 1945-1947.

Wayne took great pride in his yard and had a flourishing garden. He would always share his produce with everyone. He also enjoyed woodworking, and coon hunting with his best friend, Wayne Bishop. Wayne also took several big game hunting trips to the Rockies, which he always prepared for and greatly enjoyed. In later years, he loved to travel and went on many adventures with his children and extended family. He will be missed.

Wayne was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Dorothy; his parents; and brother-in-law Gene Ullrich.

He is survived by his children Vicki Hotsenpiller and husband Bill; Daryl Deel and wife Pat; Dixie Fink and husband Joe; Dennis Deel, Debbie Shannon and husband Doug; a sister LaVon Ullrich of Scottsdale, Arizona; and nephews Doug and David Ullrich of Phoenix, Arizona. Wayne also leaves behind 12 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren, with two on the way!
