Obituary - Dr. Jerry Sanders

Dr. Jerry Sanders passed away on Thursday, February 23, 2017 at Moore-Few Care Center in Nevada, MO after complications from a stroke. Jerry was born in 1932 in Southwest City, MO to Lester Newton and Corene (Vanhooser) Sanders, he was their only child.

Jerry was a graduate of Southwest City High School Class of 1950. He went on to attend the University of Kansas City Dental School and graduated in 1957. He then came to Nevada to set up a dental practice and purchased the office of Dr. Chapman. 

He was in private practice for 34 years, retiring in 1991. A short time later the Nevada Habilitation Center was in need of a Dentist and he worked an additional 16 years for the State of Missouri at the Hab Center. He was an avid golfer and longtime member of the Nevada Nine O’clock Coffee Club.

He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Nancy. Three children: Roger W. Sanders (Kim) of Ft. Bragg, California, Christy A. Pettibon (Kevin) of Moundville, Missouri, and Dr. Douglas N. Sanders (Angela) of Hudson, New Hampshire. Two grandchildren: Thomas A. Sanders of Japan, and Blair N. Dickson (Ridge) of Webb City, Missouri; one great-grandchild Quinn H. Dickson.
